Luca Parente

Degree: Pisa (2022)
Supervisor: Dr. Omar Zanusso
Room: 173 Ed. C

Luca Parente was born in Catanzaro on the 22nd of July 1995, where he attended the Liceo Scientifico Luigi Siciliani, obtaining his High School Diploma in 2014 with the grade 100/100 cum laude. Then, he enrolled at the University of Pisa, where he got his bachelor's degree in Physics in 2018 with a grade of 108/110, discussing a brief dissertation on hidden variables theory and the Bell Inequality. Afterward, he continued his path in Physics again at the University of Pisa by choosing the Theoretical curriculum for his master's. During these years, he focused on High Energy Physics and Gravity by passing exams on Quantum Field Theory, Quantum Chromodynamics, and Gravity. Being attracted by the non-perturbative aspects of QFTs, he worked on a thesis about Monte Carlo algorithms applied to Lattice QCD under the supervision of Prof. Massimo D’Elia (University of Pisa) and Dr. Claudio Bonanno (IFT-Universidad Autonoma de Madrid). The main goal of this thesis was the study of new algorithms to improve the measure of the topological charge in QCD. Finally, he graduated in December 2022 with 110/110. From January 2022 to June 2023, he enjoyed an experience as a full-time teacher of Mathematics and Physics at High School. At the beginning of the PhD, his research interests are switching from lattice QCD to Quantum Gravity, considering its theoretical and phenomenological aspects. Besides Physics, he is also interested in several widespread hobbies, from the oldest ones such as playing guitar, doing sports, and reading, to the most recent such as the study of the Chinese culture and language.
