In my PhD course I’m currently studying the process of laser cooling in Ytterbium doped fluoride crystals, within a research program funded by ESA. The work involves mainly the Czochralski growth of single crystals, the spectroscopic characterization and measurement of the cooling efficiency. In the past years I’ve studied physics at the University of Pisa. The title of my master thesis is “BaYLuF8 doped with Tm3+: a new material for laser in the 2micron region ”, I dealt with the growth, spectroscopy and laser test of a novel material BaYLuF8 doped with Thulium. In my bachelor thesis I’ve studied ultra-cold atoms in optical trap for quantum computing application. My hobbies are music, photography and literature.
