I was born in Athens, Greece, in 1996. My early interest in physics led me to pursue a bachelor's degree in the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens. There I majored in Astrophysics, which was also my first experience in the intricate world of plasma dynamics. “A field which combines all physics in one” as my professor would say, I decided to investigate it even further. I completed a summer school in Plasma Physics & Controlled Fusion in 2019 at St. Petersburg University from where I learnt about laser-plasma interactions. My interest was peaked with this new way of achieving particle acceleration and so I decided to obtain a Master's degree on such interactions at the Institute of Plasma Physics & Lasers, Greece. My thesis was on experimental and numerical Laser Wakefield Acceleration – a method for creating relativistic electrons – and their interaction with radiochromic films. As I wanted to further my thesis work to more practical applications, I enrolled into this PhD programme. My project, supervised by Dr. Luca Labate and Dr. Leonida A. Gizzi, is divided into two main parts. Firstly the creation of very high energy and stable electron beams and secondly guiding such beams for FLASH radiotherapy experiments.
