Ricerca: Laser cooling in Ytterbium-Thulium co-doped fluoride crystals
Supervisore: M.Tonelli

In my PhD course I’m currently studying the process of laser cooling in
Ytterbium-Thulium co-doped fluoride crystals. This studying is within a
research program funded by ESA. The work involves mainly the Czochralski growth of single crystals, the spectroscopic characterization and measurement of the cooling efficiency. I graduated in physics of matter at the University of
Pisa. The title of my master thesis is “Effetto di conversione per aumento dell'effcienza celle fotovoltaiche”. My thesis work is concentrated on characterization of fluoride crystal trough spectroscopy analysis in order to evaluate an increase of efficiency of solar cell. We improve the solar cell efficiency at 1.5μm of 6.1% using a crystal Ba2Y3F4 doped with Erbium. In my bachelor thesis I’ve studied a trigger algorithm for graphic processor for the experiment NA48. My hobbies are music, cinema and sports.
